What happens when clock-in is outside the boundary

The refusal, why it exists, and what it does not do.

The essentials

Overview

A store can require somebody to be there before they clock on. It is off unless somebody turns it on, and it is set store by store rather than across the business.

When it is on and a person is outside the line, the clock-in is refused and they are told why. The check happens on Orbit’s side rather than on the phone, so turning location off does not get around it — it means the clock-in cannot happen at all.

Before you start

Be at your workplace and confirm that Orbit has the correct store selected.

Step by step

  1. Clock-in can be tied to a place

Orbit can require somebody to actually be at the store before they clock on. It is off until you turn it on, and it is set store by store rather than across the business.

Follow this step in the Operations app.

  2. Set the boundary

Turn the boundary on for one store and set how far out it reaches. Give it enough room to cover the whole site — the car park and the back door count as being at work.

Follow this step in the Operations app.

  3. What it stops

Outside the line, clock-in politely refuses and says why. Inside it, nothing changes for anybody.

Follow this step in the Operations app.

What to check

If you need more help

Give your manager the store, time and error message so they can review the location setup and any missing time record. Do not alter your recorded hours just to get past the location message.
