Getting started

What Orbit needs before it is useful

Three things, in order, and why nothing works well without them.

The essentials

Overview

Orbit is built around three things, and they stack in this order: the stores you run, the people who work in them, and the weeks those people are rostered on.

  1. Add a store. Rosters, hours, pay and reports all belong to one, so nothing else can be set up until at least one exists.
  2. Add your team, or stage them by email and invite them when you are ready. Nothing is sent until you send it.
  3. Build a week and publish it. That is the point where your team can see when they are on.

Before you start

Start with the role you have in your business: team member, store manager or organisation owner.

Step by step

  1. This is your business at a glance

Home gathers what is happening today across every store you run. It looks sparse right now and it should — it fills in as you add stores, people and rosters.

  2. Add your first store

A store is what everything else hangs off — rosters, hours, pay and reports all belong to one. Add the first one now; you can add the rest whenever you like.

  3. Add someone to your team

You can add a person outright or stage them by email and invite them later. Nothing is sent to anybody until you choose to send it.

  4. Where settings live

Business settings cover everyone — how Orbit behaves, who can do what, what it connects to. Store settings cover one place — its hours, its pay setup, its colour.

  5. Learn is always here

Every guide lives in Learn, and you can stop one halfway and pick it up later. Nothing here ever interrupts you.

What to check

If you need more help

If a tool described in a guide is missing, ask your owner to check your role and whether that feature is enabled. Creating another account will not add access.
