The essentials
Overview
Somebody can be in Orbit long before they have an account. The person, their store and their shifts are all yours to set up; the account is the last piece rather than the first.
- Add them yourself from the team list, one at a time.
- Bring a whole team across by email in one go. When one of them signs up with an email you brought across, they land on their own record instead of a blank one.
- Give somebody a store’s join code and let them ask to join. The request waits for you, so a code on its own is never a way in.
Before you start
Have the person’s correct email, intended role and store ready. Adding and inviting people requires the relevant access.
Step by step
Your team can be here before they are
People can exist in Orbit before any of them has signed up. That means you can build a real roster around real names while everybody’s phone stays quiet.
Follow this step in the Operations app.
Import your people
Bring your team in by email in one go rather than one at a time. Nothing is sent to anybody at this point.
Follow this step in the Operations app.
What happens when they join
When somebody signs up with an email you brought across, they land already set up rather than starting from an empty screen. Orbit never makes an account on somebody’s behalf.
Follow this step in the Operations app.
What to check
If you need more help
If the email is missing, ask the person to check spam and confirm the address. If they joined the wrong store or appear twice, review their existing records before sending another invitation.
